ObjectiveTo understand the epidemiological status of elderly hypertension in Lidong community of guilin and to provide the basis of prevention and treatment for elderly patients with hypertension. MethodsBy cluster random sampling and indoor interview, 526 elderly inhabitant (the age was 65 years or older than 65 years) in Lidong community of Guilin were enrolled in this survey, and health records were established. ResultsThe morbility rate of elderly hypertention was 38.59% And the morbility rate of the male and the female were 37.44% and 39.46% respectively, and no significant difference in the morbility rate was observed between the males and the females (P＞0.05); the morbility rate of elderly hypertension increased with age, however, the morbility rate showed no statistical difference among the elderly patients with different ages (P＞0.05); there were 18.23% of elderly patients with hypertention complicated with diabetes, 11.33% with coronary heart disease, 0.49% with cerebrovascular disease and 0.49% with chronic bronchitis; the medication rate was 87.19%. ConclusionsHypertension is a chronic disease that does serious harm to the life quality of the elderly, and it’s important to strengthen the management of elderly hypertension in community.
