Objective To explore the efficacy of Huangkui capsules combined with mycophenolate mofetil in the treatment of IgA nephropathy. Methods A total of 96 patients with IgA nephropathy were selected as research subjects and randomly divided into an observation group or a control group, with 48 patients in each group. On the basis of oral administration of prednisone and losartan, the control group received mycophenolate mofetil treatment, while the observation group received Huangkui capsules combined with mycophenolate mofetil treatment, and both groups were treated continuously for 3 months. Renal function indicators (24-hour urinary protein quantification, serum albumin, and serum creatinine), blood lipids [serum total cholesterol (TC) and triglyceride (TG)], and humoral immune indicators [immunoglobulin A (IgA), complement C3, and IgA/C3 ratio] before and after treatment, as well as the incidence of adverse reactions during treatment, were compared between the two groups. Results Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in 24-hour urinary protein quantification, serum creatinine, IgA/C3 ratio, or serum levels of albumin, TC, TG, IgA, or complement C3 (all P>0.05). After 3 months of treatment, 24-hour urinary protein quantification, serum creatinine, and serum TC, TG, and IgA levels decreased, while serum albumin levels increased in both groups, and the IgA/C3 ratio in the observation group decreased (all P<0.05). Moreover, the 24-hour urinary protein quantification, serum creatinine, IgA/C3 ratio, and serum TC, TG, and IgA levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, while the serum albumin level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (all P<0.05). However, there was no statistically significant difference in the serum complement C3 level between the two groups (P>0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups during treatment (P>0.05). Conclusion Huangkui capsules combined with mycophenolate mofetil in the treatment of IgA nephropathy can promote the recovery of renal function, correct lipid metabolism disorders, reduce injuries related to immune complex deposition, and has good safety.
